Like everyone, Jill has seen the constant headlines highlighting the shortage of uniform and equipment NHS staff are facing as they fight coronavirus on the frontline. With time available, key sewing skills and a can-do attitude, Jill recognised that she could contribute to the local NHS scrubs shortage. Joining the For The Love of Scrubs a national initiative helping everyone to support and inspire each other to make a difference. ‘These groups have popped up all over the country, working to coordinate these volunteers. Jill has applied her sewing skills making sets of scrubs, which with those made by others have been deployed locally. With around 600 people in the Taunton group alone providing scrubs for hospitals, care homes and surgeries, the joint impact is significant. ‘’The dedication and tenacity of our NHS heros is truly inspirational.’’ explained Jill. ‘’People can find their local group on the official For The Love of Scrubs website. These groups are working with numerous NHS facilities plus home support to ensure they receive the scrubs they need. These are serious times. The British public is facing this crisis together. If we all pull together, respect the social distancing rules and do what we can, we can look forward with optimism and positivity.Back to News
